Each year, the third Friday in January marks 'race-day' for Pack 207. Each boy is given a Pinewood Derby kit
to create a fast, zooming race car! Instructions are included in the kit and you can also visit pinewood derby websites
to get great ideas on how to make your car (see website list below).
The Pinewood Derby Committee begins planning in
November to get ready for the big race night in January.
Our Cubs have built some really great cars in the past years.

At check in, each car is weighed and a certificate is given to each race participant. All dens will display their cars
prior to the race. The cars will be judged for uniqueness prior to the race by each of the Den Leaders and Cub Master. The
Derby Master will hold an opening ceremony before the race. The Derby Master gives the "Green Flag" then all
participants have the opportunity to race their cars. Pack 207's goal is for each Cub to have fun and enjoy racing his
car that he worked hard on making! Thus, we have two tracks with open racing, participants line up and take turns
racing their cars as many times as they want. Ribbons are awarded for each race and scouts have the opportunity to tune
& repair their cars between races. Extra car kits will be available for purchase if siblings or parents want to build a
car of their own as well! The boys are encouraged to do most of the work with a little guidance. However, parent(s) can
assist their scout(s) in building cars if needed.
